Unfortunately, our community has always had young men who either do not fit into the Jewish schools or who have chosen to leave school altogether. Either way, without a structured environment, they end up lethargically passing time day after day. This, in turn, typically leads to intense conflict with their parents and further self-destructive behavior (including substance abuse, theft, violence etc.).
This program arranges for the employment of these young men on small construction jobs where the young men work an entire day, while learning a practical trade. The work is conducted under the auspices of an experienced and professional foreman. This arrangement is buttressed by informal Jewish-based educational discussions at least twice a week, as well as fun and recreational activities once or twice a week.
